101 in 1001—an update

On Sunday I will hit the one year mark of the day I started my 101 in 1001 list. It has been fun, challenging, and amazingly rewarding. I know that if I hadn’t made this list there are many things I would not have done. I’ve also discovered a nice side effect of the list—caring more about myself and my future. It’s been an great journey and I look forward to marking each one the the remaining items off the list. The list is updated below with all completed items marked in red with the date completed and any details I felt necessary.

The reason I’m doing this is here.

The main reason? To become a better, more fulfilled person. The list took quite awhile to put together. I wanted all of my items to be something I could accomplish but nothing too easy. Some will be cake compared to others if I just do them. As I complete each item I’ll be referring back to this master list to check them off. Because I’m Obsessive-Compulsive I’ve arranged my list items into categories. I did this not only for the orderliness of it, but also to make sure that I didn’t have any one area too heavy with to-dos. I fell a bit short in the “meet new people” section. I guess I need to work on that next time.

There are all sorts of reasons that these items are on my list. I’d love to hear your thoughts on them. Wonder why I put something on my list? Just ask. See something on there you’ve always wanted to do? Let me know in the comments. Think I’m crazy? Well, that’s a given.

Here we go…

  • speaking of meeting new people, will you be going to Kentucky in June? We’re going to try to make it.

    [Reply]

  • Nobody—I don’t think so. We really, really want to—(at least I know I do)—but I just don’t see it happening. Which sucks because I could meet a huge number of people I’ve been wanting to in one convenient location. People have “send me to Blogher” donation buttons, right? Maybe I should have a “send me to “ConFab” button. ;)

    [Reply]

  • Why not? I’d donate to that cause!

  • This is seriously inspiring! I remember when you did most of this stuff…well, when you blogged them, anyway. The suet cakes for the birds stick out in my mind. I learned Something New(TM) that day; I’d never heard of those before. So you see, you have also been educating the blog world, as well. Go, you!

  • Nobody—With the little guy, it’s about more than just the money.

    Lisa—Thanks!

  • I can not believe how much you have done already! You may have this list done early. :) I still want to do this, however making this list would be one of my 101 things since I can’t seem to get myself in gear to do it.

  • I think some of your meeting people stuff ended up in other categories, but you could always take a class or join a club, if you need ideas.

  • [...] I haven’t done in a long time. Years in fact. So long that I put it down as an item on my 101 in 1001 list to remedy that matter. Because obviously if it’s on the list it will get done. Right? [...]
