Weekly Winners—The Westcott Home
On Friday I had the opportunity to take a tour of the Westcott home in Springfield, Ohio. The home was built by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1900s and just opened for tours in 2005 after a $5.8 million dollar renovation. We couldn’t take photos inside but the house was beautiful. Lots of Japanese influence and a reflecting pool out front. It even smelled good inside—like old wood and history.

Unfortunately for the Wescott’s it was built right next to a cemetery.

What beautiful shots, I’m so jealous you got to tour it!
There is a FLW house in my hometown, and someone my father in law knows owns it so we got to go inside one time… his homes are just so amazing.

I’ve been to his home and studio in Oak Park too. Love his style.

His work is incredible. May go see the one when we go to Milwaukee next year.

You definitely should. The reflecting pool and the main living/dining areas are amazing.

I don’t know why I thought you were going to Falling Waters, but I think that is in PA or NY so this makes sense now. I guess that is the first house I think of when someone says Frank Lloyd Wright. This house is beautiful. Almost has a slight Aisan influence it seems. Gorgeous pictures.
P.S. The Adventures of Photo Pixie are up!

It’s the first house most people think of. And you’re right, lots of Asian influence in this house.
By the way, I LOVE the pictures of Vegas.

Nice pictures! We have Taliesin out here, which is the headquarters for the Frank Lloyd Wright foundation… it’s a big complex with housing for students of the School of Architecture. I used to go there on my lunch hour when I worked nearby and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. His work is very calming to look at, for some reason. And it attracts very intelligent people, I’ve noticed. I don’t know why that is.

His work is so calming because of all the horizontal lines and the way he integrated nature into the building—through things like lots of windows and such.
