Please tell me more about the elephant feet. Is this a statue depicting an actual elephant; or just an object you found that, when photographed, just looks like an elephant foot?
Either way, great pics as usual! The apples one makes me want to go out to the store to buy a nice apple right now. (But I am too tired and lazy, so woe is me.)
It is the foot of a statue at the Toledo Zoo. The statue has been there since I was a little kid—even longer actually—and EVERYONE gets on it to have their picture taken at some point in their life. This week I noticed for the first time that the elephant has a chain around his foot.
Sheesh…sculpting the chain onto the elephant statue’s foot is pretty harsh. It would have been easy enough for the sculptor to leave that off and focus on the majesty of the animal; but instead, with the chain, it becomes a statement about the treatment of these animals in captivity. Wow, it sucks if you think about it- that the elephants can’t even be free in *art*!
Anyway, yeah. That’s my two cents. Throw it into the two-cents jar with the rest of ‘em!

Wonderful shots this week. I love the snap of the apples, it has a definite fall feel to it.

Thanks. I think it was the only one in the half bushel we picked that had a leaf on the stem. It was begging to be photographed.

That first shot, especially the apple with the little leaf, makes me want to jump on a plane and head back to New England right now.
