It would have been easy enough for the sculptor to leave that off and focus on the majesty of the animal; but instead, with the chain, it becomes a statement about the treatment of these animals in captivity. Wow, it sucks if you think about it- that the elephants can't even be free in *art*! Anyway, yeah. That's my two cents. Throw it into the two-cents jar with the rest of 'em!
